With every challenge comes opportunity for growth. My father, Roger, who passed away recently was familiar with challenges, but he didn’t allow those challenges consume his life. He recognized he wasn’t the only one that was dealing with life changing events and that’s why he was always inspired to give back to people in need. One of the programs he was very passionate about was the K9 for Warriors, a program that trains dogs for soldiers dealing with PTSD, raising enough money through the foundation Courage and Sacrifice to donate a dog to a soldier in need. On October 26th, my husband and I will be running the Marine Corp Marathon in honor of my dad in hopes of raising enough money to donate a dog with his nickname “Snugs”. The challenges my family has faced with losing him has given us the strength to give back to an organization that meant so much to him. Go Team Snugs!
“ Heroes aren’t always the ones who win. They ‘re the ones who lose sometimes but they keep fighting, they keep coming back. They don’t give up. That’s what makes them heroes.” ~ Cassandra Clare
